With 20 years of experience in his pocket, Michael V. Acord, or "Vaughn," as he is known throughout the industry, is revered as a top international stylist. His list of celebrity clientele includes Richard Gere, Michael J. Fox, Tom Brady, President Bill Clinton, Ashton Kutcher, Al Pacino, Lou Reed and Bruce Springsteen. As co-owner and creative director for mizu, Vaughn positions the salon as the city's style center for Manhattanites and celebrities alike.
Vaughn's career began in 1976 following graduation from Ohio State. A quick trip to New York catapulted him into the modeling industry, where he quickly landed a hair campaign in Europe for famed stylists Vidal Sassoon and Trevor Sorbie. It was here that he realized a talent and passion for men's styles and moved back to New York, married and became the most sought-after stylist for men's cuts.
Throughout his career, Vaughn's work has appeared on the runways for designers including Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Isaac Mizrahi and Jil Sander.

Renowned stylist and educator, and now salon owner, Damian Santiago helped created Mizu New York with a goal of setting a new standard within the luxury salon industry.
With an impressive beginning, as the hairdresser on the Tony Award winning Broadway show, "A Chorus Line", he personally styled the show's star Donna McKecknie and created the original hairstyles for the entire cast.
Always committed to improving and growing he left the theater world for the challenge of a Vidal Sassoon Apprenticeship. He quickly rose through the ranks to become a member of the Artistic team. He both taught and learned from many international hairdressers worldwide during his decade long tenure with Vidal Sassoon.
Spending two decades at Bumble and bumble challenged Damian further and offered him more opportunities to grow and establish himself as a leader and mentor. While developing his eye for looks that work he continued to fine tune his skills.
Maintaining a contemporary edge, Damian is known for his versatility and strong haircuts that "get better as they grow out". Waves and curls/permanent waves have been a special passion throughout his career. His editorial credits, as a master perm artist, include Elle, Glamour, Mademoiselle, InStyle, Seventeen, Teen Vogue and the New York Times Fashion Magazine.
Extremely dedicated and passionate about his work, Damian's very loyal international client list includes beauty editors, social influencers, business leaders and celebrities.

Great Lengths Extentions Expert/Editorial Stylist
Ashley is one of the hottest young stylists in New York City. She comes to Mizu New York from the West Coast where she studied under celebrity stylist and fashion guru Varo Lopez, personal stylist to Jordan Sparks. Ashley has toured with Jordan Sparks under Varo and was recently at the Superbowl in Miami to style her hair.
Ashely made her New York debut at Cutler Salon where she rapidly excelled; taking on some of their most high profile clients including Britney Spears and Rachel Hunter. A regular at fashion week, she has styled for designers such as J. Mendel, Betsey Johnson, Cynthia Rowley, Korto Momolu and Mandy Coon.
Ashley's expertise ranges from cutting and styling to bridal up-dos and extensions. She is also one of the few professionals in New York who has extensive expertise in "Great Length’s," "Seamless Wefts," and custom made clip-ins (as she custom designed for Britney Spears). Her work has been in publications such as Ok! magazine, and shows such as “Make Me a Supermodel”, “She Has the Look” and “Oprah”.
She currently lives in the Financial District with her husband Chris and her dogs Bob and Tiffany.

Dimitrios believes that "life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint you can on it.”
With a Bachelor of Arts in Art & Graphic design, Dimitrios Tsioumas combines his exquisite eye for color with an artistic commitment to detail in cutting and finishing techniques. He looks to fashion, art, music, and nature as inspirations for his work. His designs show a significant amount of confidence and beauty and have a sense of structure and harmony. His unique concepts and visions for his collections have been nominated for the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA). He is two-time U.S. winner of the Trend Zoom Color Challenge. He recently won Texture Stylist of the Year (2010) for NAHA.
As a Goldwell International Artist, Dimitrios travels around the world teaching advanced color, cutting and styling education to hair stylists. As the Creative Color Director at mizu new york, he leads a team of highly skilled colorists and has developed mizu’s color education program.
Originally from Geneva, Switzerland, Stefano Greco began following his passion for hair at the age of fifteen. After completing his primary education, Stefano entered a training program at a renowned school for hair design in Geneva. Since completing his training, Stefano has worked in high fashion styling as well as in top-end salons.
For fashion editorials, he has traveled to destinations around the world such as Mono Lake, Mumbai, Cape Verde, St Barths, Tokyo, and Turks and Caicos. Stefano has also worked on major international campaigns, including campaigns for Victoria's Secret, Ann Taylor, Express, Avon, Ralph Lauren, Schartzkopf and Verizon. Designers such as Betsey Johnson, Tracy Reese, Jeremy Lang, Miss Sixty, Naeem Khan, G Star, and Proenza Shouler have called on Stefano to provide styling for their fashion shows. His work has appeared in Vogue India, Zink, Nikki Style, Icon, And+ Men Hair Styles, and Highlights.
Mamoru Sawataishi started his career at Vidal Sassoon where he trained and became the hairstylist he is today. After working at Vidal Sassoon for six years he went on to help open and operate Miwa Salon as one of the chief stylists for five years. Mamoru was recruited to work at Bumble and bumble Salon and became a chief stylist and educator. Over the years he educated and trained many hairstylists as well as helped set a new trend in styling and cutting. He was instrumental in the opening of the current Bumble and bumble Hair Salons in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan and stayed with Bumble for sixteen years. Mamoru has also designed a successful hair salon in Nagoya, Japan.
Mamoru has worked on hair all types of hair textures and styles on a variety of clients that come from all parts of the world which including notable media and sports figures, musicians, business men and women, and members of the fashion industry.
Ray Symons is a Master hairstylist from London, UK with three decades of experience in thedescribe the image industry. He has been living in New York City for over 25 Years and has worked at many notable New York City salons from Bumble and Bumble to Oscar Blandi. His work has been seen worldwide in magazines, television, and the runways of London and New York to styling Red Carpet hair for famous "A" list celebrities. His Vidal Sassoon background gives him an edge in his precision cutting techniques that he teaches in workshops and seminars in salons and trade shows across the USA.
With 18 years in the industry, Rosa Cirrincione is one of mizu new yorks top stylists. A life long New Yorker, her personal style is reflected in her work and with some of the best training in the industry she has become one of the most sought after stylists in Manhattan.
After finishing beauty school Rosa found herself flipping through an issue of Vogue magazine where she saw editorial work by acclaimed stylist Orlando Pita. At the time, Orlando Pita was at Bumble and bumble which promoted her to apply to Bumble’s intense training program. It was actually former Bumble stylist and current mizu new york co-owner Damian Santiago who hired her. During her 16 years at Bumble and bumble she was trained by some of their top stylists. It was there where she learned and perfected razor cutting. Upon mizu new york’s opening, she quickly joined the mizu team.
Specializing in classic shapes, long hair and graduated bobs, Rosa’s edgy and modern style is inspired by current fashion and films. She credits her main inspirations to the “streets of New York”.
Originally from New Jersey, stylist Rick Buckler has lead an accomplished career styling hair that started with styling hair for Bon Jovi. In his early years he focused on education where he traveled the country for Paul Mitchell, John Dellaria and Redken teaching cutting, styling and color techniques. After concentrating on education he moved on to work at the salon at Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan where he worked and managed for twelve years.
Inspired by balance of hair proportion and facial shape, Rick says that most of all his pays much attention to detail when it comes to his clients. His work as has appeared in publications such as Vogue.
Sasha's career includes working with Vidal Sassoon, Suga Salon, Gerard Bollei and now mizu. Along with working on clients at these prestigious salons she has been responsible for the hair for television commercials, videos, stage work, models and an educator at Vidal Sassoon Training Academy.
Sasha enjoys working with the clients needs to create an individual creative look that the client can easily take care of in between appointments. Along with cutting and styling hair she is a hair extension specialist. The seamless extensions she chose add length and body without causing any damage.
Light, shadows and the colors of nature have always inspired Brian Murphy. From the beautiful blondes, crisp wheats and smooth sands of the warm months to the vibrant auburns, lush browns and midnight velvet blacks of the autumn and winter seasons, this artist prides himself on being able to impart to his clients the natural lights and colors they so desire.
Brian comes to mizu with 25 years of experience at the finest salons of New York City. From his early start at Bergdorf Goodman's Salon, to his tenure at Suga and The Spot, through his years at Bumble and bumble, he carries a piece of each of these prestigious salons with him in the perfection of his technique and artistry.
A lifelong New Yorker, Brian is fueled by the energy and diversity of the city. It is this diversity that makes him as comfortable with the guy and girl next door as with him many Oscar and Tony winning clientele.
Brian's chair is always driven by the needs of his clients. Whether it be a shared experience, a lively discussion, or a quiet meditative time, it's all there for the taking. And of course, there's always the laughter. Ever the quick wit, Brian poignantly quips, "There aren't enough hours in the day to beautify the world, but I'm giving it my best shot, one person at a time."
As one of the most recent additions to the mizu team, hair color specialist Francesca Montanile comes to mizu with 14 years of industry experience. She began her career with extensive training at Warren Tricomi Salon where she soon went on to become the color assistant to owner Joel Warren for two years. From there she went to work at many well respected salons in the city including Edris salon, Serge Normant at John Frieda and Joseph Martin Salon.
Francesca’s custom coloring techniques include everything from highlighting to glazes to painting and balayage. Whether trendy or classic, her clients with receive custom color to suit their individual needs. Most importantly she feels that healthy and shiny color is a must. Her work has been featured in many publications including Vogue, Glamour, Essence, Shape, Stylecaster.com and on shows such as “Makeover Story” and “Good Day New York”.
A native of Virginia Beach, VA, Melissa Garner moved to NYC in 2010 to pursue her dream of becoming a Hair Stylist. Due to her strong belief in education, Melissa decided to join the mizu team as a Hair Color Apprentice upon graduating from Arrojo Cosmetology. Since becoming a Colorist at mizu, Melissa has been a National Semi-Finalist in Goldwell's ColorZoom Challenge of 2012. She assisted Dimitrios Tsioumas on editorial shoots. Her work has been featured in in Vogue, Elle UK, Veux Magazine, The Cut online, Behind the Chair Magazine, Modern Salon, a Diesel ad campaign and an American Express campaign. "I see the world in technicolor which makes me detailed oriented. I'm inspired by every aspect of the universe, music, and art. I love to create everything from natural color to creative color. It's all beautiful to me."
As one of mizu’s youngest colorists to join the team, Miguel Angarita has quickly risen the ranks as one of the salon’s most talented colorists. After training at Bumble and bumble for four years as well as training with master colorist Brad Johns for two years, he comes to mizu with a solid color background and a specialty in multi-dimensional color.
Inspired by fashion, summer, nature and “Hollywood Glam”, Miguel is a true believer that “hair is the ultimate accessory and it always has to look great.” He believes that the instant gratification of making someone happy by doing their color is one of the greatest rewards of being a colorist.
Master Colorist and Head Educator
With 15 years of experience, Moran Gallagher began her career training at Vidal Sassoon with Gregory Miller and Annie Humphreys. She credits Vidal Sassoon as the technical and creative foundation for her career. As a master colorist and head of the color education program at mizu new york, she has made her place as one of the top colorists in the industry. She has spent all of her 15 years in leading New York City salons, including Bumble and bumble.
Moran has an exquisite eye and a unique approach to color. Her love for music, fashion, art, and nature come alive through her work. With her precise technique and artistic freedom, it is possible for her to create any desired look.
Moran has a deep passion for education and believes that she learns just as much from her apprentices as they learn from her. This helps her stay current and ahead. With a constant evolving personal style, she continues to reinvent herself and inspire all around her.
Born into a long line of hairdressers, this Manhattan native finds his inspiration in the unique styles of his own borough. Joseph, however, does not simply live and breathe the latest trends in hair; he has also perfected the art of making these innovations work for the individual. From the most fashion-savvy individual to the busiest executive, Joseph is the authority on accommodating his clientele and giving every individual a trim they can treasure.
With a thirty year ownership of the Joseph Martin salon under his belt, Joseph brings a polished sense of style to the mizu family. Since 2010, Joseph has graced his new home not only with his extensive knowledge of keratin but his versatility and range of experience as well. Karen has been around hair color and make-up since she was a child. Having a grandmother that modeled during the pin-up era and having been in front of the camera herself… beauty is in her DNA. Needing to fuel her passion for color and style, Julia enrolled in the highly selective apprenticeship program at the Vidal Sassoon Salon in New York City. Her aptitude and artistry ushered her way to working as a colorist of the Vidal Sassoon salons of New York City, Boston, Toronto, and London. Julia has leased her European and American techniques to other world class salons to include Fredrick Fekkai, Oribe, Steven Knoll and Pierre Michel.
Julia creates a sophisticated and modern experience to all her clients with an expression to designing brilliant high style hair color that is healthy, silky and luxurious. Her innovative work has been featured in style publications such as Vogue and Harpers Bazzar. She has worked closely with modeling agency’s, television studios, and Broadway. Max is a New York trained Hairstylist. He’s inspired everyday by this amazing city, current trends and by his clients. He prides himself on his ability to have a clear and thorough consultation and deliver on it. He specializes in precision haircutting for both men and women, bridal updos, and editorial styling.

Sheridan began her career in 1994 when she attended the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica, CA. With hard work and dedication, along with amazing talent, Sheridan earned a spot as a full time stylist for Vidal Sassoon in both Beverly Hills and Washington D.C. Always having had a passion for music and fashion, Sheridan found herself working closely with actors and musicians to help them achieve their image. In 2001, Sheridan moved to New York City where she continued to hone her skills and build a loyal following. She is known for her precision cutting, specialty in men’s barbering, and for her devoted clientele. She takes great pride in helping all her clients achieve their best look.
As a highly trained and established stylist, Aya Saito, continues to prove that there isn’t any hair complication that she can’t overcome. Her three years as part of the Mizu team, has only further proven her creativity, versatility, and ability to meet and exceed the expectations of every one of her clients, leaving them both satisfied with her gorgeous style and amiable professionalism. From supermodels to tennis players, Aya has been known to give the occasional celebrity a trim. Master Hair Colorist
Perhaps it was the years he spent touring and recording with his Glam Rock band combined with his strong interest in fashion that made his move into the salon industry such a smooth and obvious transition. For more than twenty years, Nico has been a dedicated leader with a passion for excellence within the industry and he still cannot say for sure what sparked that change.
His initial education and apprenticeship was at New York's Vidal Sassoon Salon. He was soon sought after for his color work by many of the musicians and designers that were in and out of the Sassoon salon in those days including Cyndi Lauper, The Talking Heads, Pat Field and Betsy Johnson, to name a few. His editorial credits include Glamour, Mademoiselle and Self magazines in addition to numerous credits for recording artist and pop/rock musicians compact disc jackets.
Today Nico is also called upon to work with advertising and model agencies to achieve the exact colors they need for their campaigns, models and actors. A master of communication and formulation, he never fails to have a brilliant solution for any and every hair color scenario. Nico always shows up armed with a massive array of techniques and tools. Whether working with clients in the salon or advertising and model agencies, he is always the consummate professional and perfectionist.
From watching his mother cut hair as a child to his first run at cutting his cousin Robert’s hair for prom in his bathroom, this Schenectady native has always been a natural. Steven attended the Paul Mitchell School in upstate New York where he also took his first position in a Paul Mitchell salon. A year later, Steven made the move to New York City to train in Mizu’s apprentice program, which offered him the opportunity to further his education and develop a love for men’s grooming and short women’s haircuts. Now with experience and credit for styling the men in Cirque du Soleil, Steven’s goal is to provide his clients with a haircut that suits their lifestyle and leaves them with a smile on their face.
Hailing from Saratoga, New York, Judy McGuinness came to New York City to pursue a career that fulfilled her passion to make people look and feel beautiful. After studying at the Arrojo Cosmetology School, Judy was drawn to mizu to continue her education and hone her skills as a modern and creative, precision-based hair stylist. "I love utilizing all of the tools that are available to me to create a perfect cut that's personalized to each client. My goal is for each person that leaves my chair is to have a look that is effortless for them to recreate at home." Judy has been credited for her work in NYFW spring/summer 2014, ABS Chicago, and IBS New York.
Dante’s career started back in his garage dishing out clipper cuts and surfer styles to the neighborhood before moving to NYC to complete his apprenticeship at Bumble and bumble where he honed in on his craft. Today he prides his work on being multi-dimensional and highly visual. His diverse clientele benefits from cuts that are unique, versatile and suitable to the client. Dante believes in style over trend and his work is timeless.
Dante continues to master his craft as he works in education and on set for a variety of publications. He is constantly drawing inspiration from music, books, and art. His continued education and interests in the arts keep him progressing forward in this ever-changing world.
